Up for sale we have a 2003 Lancer Evo 8 with a many new parts- including a brand new Evo 9 motor. This Evo is completely race ready and is fully race prepared. It is ready to run in the 2012 race season. This Evo competed in the 2010 Redline Time Attack series in the "Modified AWD" class. The car is SCCA/NASA eligible and has competed in SCCA events in 2010 in the STO class and prior years in the Touring classes. This Evo is built to run at the top of the class. No expense was spared in the build! All major motor/tuning work in the past 2 years has been done by Road Race Engineering- a very well-known Evo specialist in the Los Angeles area.
The build detail is all outlined in detail below, but here are some of the parts on the car which are brand new or recently replaced with little or no testing or racing time on them. The 2.3L stroker bottom end of the motor has been completely replaced and is new with no testing or racing on it. The Buschur stage 3 head was rebuilt at this time also. A new GT3582 turbo was put in the car in January 2011 and only 2 test days are on the car since that time. The turbo has a V-band outlet which is a must over the conventional 5 bolt style to keep the turbo from vibrating loose from the downpipe during racing. The car has a brand new ACT 6 puck racing clutch disk which has no testing or racing time on it. Other new items include a new Mishimoto radiator, new Setrab oil cooler, new alternator, new camshafts, new timing belt, and recently rebuilt calipers front (Stoptech Big Brake Kit) and rear (Brembos).
The car has never had any on-track crashes. It has never had any major (or really any minor) damage on the track. It was originally purchased in 2004 as a low mileage salvage vehicle because of some damage to the right rear quarter panel. The frame was not damaged and the quarter panel has since been fixed properly. The car interior is fully gutted and painted black.
If you are looking to get into racing this is a great opportunity! The car is as reliable and fast as you want it to be depending on where you set the boost level. With the boost set at 30 psi the max horsepower will be in the high 500s to low 600s, or with the boost in the high teens or low 20s the horsepower will in the low 400s. With all the upgrades and improvements on the car you would spend at least double if you were to buy a stock Evo and add all the upgrades yourself. On top of that you would still need to shake all the bugs out of the car and battle through breakages as you find and replace the weak links in the car. This Evo has already been thorugh that process and is ready to go! With all the spares it comes with it is definitely ready to see track time.
The vehicle is located in Salt Lake City, Utah. We are willing to help arrange or facilitate transport to any city in the contingent 48 states as long as you pay the cost. Serious buyers are welcome to come look the car over top to bottom and do any sort of poking or proding they prefer.
